Vandalism is a continual problem in the park. It is a modern day evil that seems impossible to eradicate completely. Some of it is petty and minor but we do have some more serious incidents.
Trees, benches and litter bins have been damaged or destroyed. Fly tipping and large objects in the burn and pond are difficult to dispose of and the constant mess of casually discarded cans, bottles and plastic has to be picked up by someone.
The hot summer of 2003 was a bad time with many fires, one of them requiring the fire brigade. The 3 litter bins missing from the Duddingston end (one of them for almost 2 years) are sadly missed but should be replaced soon by the council. (Promises Promises)
